Law Enforcement Training
Each person employed by a private security services business or applying to the department for registration as an unarmed security officer, armed security officer/courier, personal protection specialist, armored car personnel, security canine handler, private investigator, alarm respondent, central station dispatcher, electronic security sales representative, electronic security technician, or electronic security technician’s assistant as defined by § 9.1-138 of the Code of Virginia, or for certification as a compliance agent as required by § 9.1-139 of the Code of Virginia, who has not met the compulsory minimum training standards prior to July 13, 1994, must meet the compulsory minimum training standards .
Each person registered with the department as an armed security officer/courier, personal protection specialist, armored car personnel, security canine handler, private investigator, alarm respondent, central station dispatcher, electronic security sales representative, electronic security technicia, unarmed security officer or electronic security technician's assistant, or certified by the department to act as a compliance agent shall complete the compulsory in-service training standard once during each 24-month period of registration or certification.
CCJA’s handgun courses are designed to develop safe weapon handling skills to include basic fundamentals and safety. As you move through Handgun I into II CCJA focuses on reducing reaction time focused on accuracy and confidence. Handgun III is focused on analysis and improvement of core skills to include combat mindset, one handed shooting and weapons manipulation.
CCJA’s shotgun courses are designed to develop safe weapons handling skills to include shotgun fundamentals, ammunition, and cover in a tactical environment. The course includes challenging practical drills to improve engagement efficiency under a variety of conditions. Shotgun II focuses on reaction time and accuracy increasing confidence.
CCJA’s carbine course focuses on marksmanship fundamentals, handling skills, and weapons safety. Carbine II focuses on reaction time and accuracy increasing confidence. Carbine III integrates I & II and focuses on tactical and technical skills in a tactical environment with emphasis on tactics, fire and maneuver.
Emergency Medical Technician course is designed to provide training to to prepare an individual to function independently in a medical emergency. This course provides the basic knowledge and skills needed o provide basic life support (BLS) care and is required to progress to more advanced levels of pre-hospital patient care. Certification requires successful completion of a Virginia practical skills examination and the National Registry written examination. This course is designed to train individuals to serve as a vital link in the chain of the health care team. This includes all skills necessary to provide emergency medical care as an attendant-in-charge with a basic life support ambulance service or other specialized rescue service.
CCJA’s Tactical Medicine course is a military, law enforcement, and private security based program designed for EMS and medical professionals. CCJA integrates both medical and tactical education; hands on training, scenario based teaching, firearms instruction and personalized attention. Taught by experienced team of law enforcement/military medic (ALS) instructors focused on tactical medicine, patient assessment, extraction and evacuation to include self-defense skills. Training includes in depth education in specialized equipment and techniques used by medical professionals with TEMS training and certification. This course prepares medical professionals to operate with SWAT units, providing life saving techniques in support of injured officers and measures to defend against criminal suspects.

CCJA offers Virginia certified concealed carry permit courses as well as specialized concealed carry training. Courses cover all aspects of weapons safety and satisfies the course requirements for obtaining a concealed and carry handgun permit in the sate of Virginia.
